Stellar Books is closing its doors for good

5 Nov

It is with sadness that we announce that Stellar Books is closing. It is just too difficult for small  independent bookstores to compete in today’s world and after trying to do so for two years, we have decided there will probably not be a time in the future where the bookstore will ever be able to cover it’s own bills, much less make a real profit.

However, we are going to be open for Marketplace in Old Town Helotes tomorrow, Nov 6, to sell what inventory we have left at rock bottom prices.

All hardback books are $2 each

All large paperbacks are $1 each

All pocket paperbacks are 4 for $2

This sale is only for Nov 6 and once we close our doors tomorrow, they are going to be closed for good.  Stop by and pick up some great books at clearance prices.

Thank you for caring about Stellar Books. We have loved every minute of this journey and would not trade it for anything.  Do continue to buy books and to read. Remember our motto; reach for a book, reach for the stars…

September – How exciting!

2 Sep

September will be a very exciting month for us at Stellar Books!

Marketplace

Our first big event in September is our monthly Marketplace on Saturday the 4th, when dozens of vendors will line the streets of Old Town Helotes with their unique wares. There will be live music, a puppet show and a Bar-B-Que cook-off!

Book Signing Event during Marketplace

During Marketplace (September 4), local children’s author, Esther Locascio, will be signing copies of her new book, “The Haunting” at Stellar Books between 12-3 pm.

Ebram’s Story: Book 1  ”The Haunting”

Ebram Casas-Treski gets the shock of his life when he moves to a new town and learns that he will not be finishing elementary school at the top grade level but going to middle school instead. But loneliness, isolation, and bullies are only the beginning of his problem. Something mysterious is going on, on Texas Thistle Avenue, and it’s difficult to ignore. Read more on author’s Website.

Opening Old Town Café!!

Our next big event during September is on the 15th when we will join other established businesses in Old Town to welcome the new businesses, including our very own sister business, Old Town Café. We are so excited about opening a café right next door!

We’ve been working long hours to get the cafe up and running and we would just love it if you stop in and say hi, have a cup of coffee or tea and let us know what you think about our new place.  Join us between 4-9pm on the 15th for discounts, door prizes and refreshments. Mark you calendar and let’s have some fun!
